A press report revealed a surprise related to the German successor, Jurgen Klopp, who announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season.
According to "The Athletic" newspaper, "Liverpool management began communicating with a number of agents since Klopp informed them of his intention to leave last November, to ensure reaching an agreement with a new coach as soon as possible.".
The Athletic pointed out, "The Spaniard, Xabi Alonso, is the most likely candidate to take on this job after his distinguished career with Bayer Leverkusen in the last two seasons.".
Liverpool officials believe that “Alonso has a distinctive personality similar to Klopp, whether on the field or in press conferences.”.
Klopp announced yesterday, Friday, "his departure from the club, which is shocking news to the team's fans after 9 years he spent at Anfield.".
