Palestinian ambassador thanks Iraq's firm position and welcomes the International Court's decision

    The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Baghdad, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, expressed today, Friday, his thanks for Iraq’s firm positions towards his country, while he welcomed the decision of the International Court to prevent the continuation of the crime of genocide against the Palestinians.
     
     
    Al-Ruwaidi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “His country welcomes the decision, which is a historic decision and all countries are required to take all precautionary measures to prevent the continuation of the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.”
    He added, "States now have a legal duty to respect international law and prevent hostilities against the Palestinian people, and not to be a partner in what the Zionist entity is doing."
    Al-Ruwaidi continued: “What is required now is that the Zionist entity does not escape punishment, and countries must proceed with achieving justice.”
    He continued: "We are facing an important historical phase with the acceptance of the Lawsuit and the rejection of all Zionist allegations, and now action is required by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court," explaining, "The court's decision strengthens the position of the International Criminal Court to prosecute the perpetrators of genocide crimes."
    Al-Ruwaidi stressed, “Today’s court decision is a reminder to everyone that no state is above the law and must be held responsible for its crimes, and all measures must be taken to prevent the continuation of this ongoing crime against the Palestinian people.”
    Al-Ruwaidi concluded - according to the statement  “We thank South Africa for taking this bold move and all the countries that supported its request, and we thank brotherly Iraq for its position in support of South Africa’s step, which confirms Iraq’s firm position in supporting Palestine against the crime of genocide committed against Palestine and its people, in addition to political and humanitarian support.”
