USA: We welcome the start of the work of the joint committee and the transition to a security partnership with Iraq

The US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanowski, expressed on Thursday her welcome for the start of the work of the joint committee and the transition to a security partnership with Iraq.

Romanowski said in a blog post on the “X” platform, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “I welcome the start of the work of the American-Iraqi Supreme Military Committee.”.

She added, "This committee builds on previous bilateral discussions and the successes achieved by Iraq's campaign to defeat ISIS in partnership with the Iraqi government. The transition to a sustainable bilateral security partnership is important to confirm our continued commitment to supporting the security of the region and Iraq's sovereignty."
