PM's Adviser to UN delegation: The draft amendment to the constitution is in its first stage

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Constitutional Affairs, Hassan Al-Yasiri, confirmed today, Thursday, that the draft amendment to the constitution is still in its first stage.

The Media Office of the Prime Minister's Advisor for Constitutional Affairs stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Yasiri received a delegation from the United Nations Mission in Iraq, which included Manoj Mathew, head of the political department in the mission, his assistant, and their accompanying delegation."

The statement added, "The government's project to amend the constitution assigned to Al-Yasiri was discussed, and Al-Yasiri, in turn, informed the delegation of the road map adopted by the draft amendment."

Al-Yasiri noted to the delegation that “the project is still in its first stage, which is limited to surveying the opinion of the political parties on its broad lines, without delving into the details.”

For its part, the UN delegation expressed “full support for the project and for everything that contributes to building Iraq and correcting the constitutional path and for the government’s actions in this regard,” promising to “provide all possible means of support.”
