Al-Sudani chairs the third meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth

    The third meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth was presided over by Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani on Thursday. Decisions were made to approve the formation of the National Youth Team for Climate Change and to launch the electronic application for the National Competition for Youth Programs.  
     
    "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani chaired the third meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth, during which they discussed the topics on the agenda and took the necessary decisions on them," according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.

    According to the statement, "the meeting approved the obligation of ministries and all authorities to evacuate these facilities (belonging to or allocated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in all governorates) and discussed the situation of youth facilities in all governorates." 
     
     "In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet (23465 of 2023), it was also decided to launch the electronic form for the (National Competition for Youth Programs), which aims to select 100 youth programs and initiatives submitted by non-governmental organizations and volunteer teams, with the goal of financing them with grants ranging from 5 to 50 million dinars," the statement went on.

    In order to strengthen the role of Iraqi youth in addressing environmental challenges and developing programs and solutions to climate challenges, it noted that "the meeting witnessed the approval of the formation of the (National Youth Team for Climate Change), through the selection of 1,000 young people active in the field of confronting climate change on a voluntary basis." This team is affiliated with the Supreme Council for Youth.

    "It was decided to activate the participation of Iraqi youth in work and education related to climate change," it said, pointing out that the Ministry of Environment would prepare a study to impose the organization of the simulation of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29), for the year 2024, for youth in Baghdad, under the supervision of the Higher Council for Youth.
