Ammar Musa Kadhim, the mayor of Baghdad, stated on Thursday that the government program had accomplished a great deal and that this had a positive impact on the execution of large-scale service projects.

"The capital, Baghdad, is one of the capitals that participated actively in the establishment of the Arab Towns Organization on the fifteenth of March 1967, which chose the capital of the sisterly State of Kuwait as its headquarters. Baghdad and its mayoralty over the past years have already participated and contributed to most conferences, meetings, and workshops held by the organization," Kadhim stated during his chairmanship of the main meeting of the 61st Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization, which was held in Baghdad under the Prime Minister's auspices and with the participation of 20 Arab cities under the slogan "Flexible Cities. Sustainable Future."

"Despite the challenges and difficulties our capital has faced over the past 20 years, Mayoralty of Baghdad will continue to be proactive in supporting the organization's projects and programs," he continued. "Mayoralty of Baghdad has turned these challenges and obstacles into tangible opportunities for success, and the proof of this is that the capital is witnessing today, the embrace of this blessed gathering of Arab brothers under the slogan (flexible cities... a sustainable future)" he said.

He said that "The government program for sustainable development was a great achievement, and Mayoralty of Baghdad was honored by a wide share and a great contribution to the implementation of the tasks entrusted to it in the service government program, which reflected positively on the implementation of giant service projects in several municipal fields and the increase in green spaces in Baghdad." The prime minister oversaw the program.

With the programs and plans of the Arab Towns Organization, he hoped that "the Baghdad meeting will produce impressive results to serve and develop our Arab cities and improve their level of service, civilization, culture, and tourism."
