The security forces are now fully equipped and ready to defend the nation, as confirmed by Lieutenant General Qais Al-Mohammadawi, the deputy commander of Joint Operations Command JOC.
A statement from the Command obtained by the Iraqi News Agency stated, "The deputy commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Mohammadawi, received Tom Goffus, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Lieutenant General José Antonio Agüero Martinez, commander of the NATO mission in Iraq, and the accompanying delegation."
"The security forces have become fully prepared and ready to defend the country," the statement said, adding that "agreements for joint cooperation will be concluded in the next stage."
In line with the goals of the NATO mission and the Iraqi government, the statement went on, "the assistant secretary general of NATO for Operations Affairs confirmed NATO's readiness to provide support, and various aspects of training." It also highlighted the high level attained by the various Iraqi security forces and the development of their capacities, expertise, and capacity to face challenges.
