Al-Sudani: Government focus on oil sector as the national economy backbone

    INA - BAGHDAD

    PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani held on Monday, the regular meeting to follow up on the progress of implementation of the Ministry of Oil’s projects and the Ministry’s plans for developing and expanding the oil sector in Iraq.

    The meeting involved a comprehensive review of the plans formulated by the Ministry of Oil, specifically focusing on what has been implemented in the production, transportation, and distribution sectors as discussions covered the production of oil derivatives and the plans in place to achieve self-sufficiency and meet national consumption by the end of this year, according to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    Al-Sudani emphasized "the government's dedicated focus on the oil sector, recognizing its significance as the backbone of the national economy."

    He highlighted, "expediting the oil sector development will have positive repercussions at the national level," stressing, "the importance for government officials to concentrate on achieving tangible outcomes, particularly those aligned with the citizens' aspirations and capable of achieving improvement in their lives, living conditions, and economic circumstances."

    "A briefing was delivered to the PM on the latest developments in investment endeavors related to associated gas, along with plans concerning integrated oil projects. Discussions also included information on the timeline for announcing the supplement to the fifth and sixth licensing rounds," included in the statement.
