Iraq and Japan meet each other in the battle to top Group D

In the second round of Group D of the AFC Asian Cup , which is currently being held in Qatar, our national football team will play a crucial match against its Japanese counterpart this Friday.

"The match will be held at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan area, at exactly two thirty in the afternoon Baghdad time," the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reporter stated.

Iraq is well known for flying out of the blocks in the Asian Cup and their 3-1 win over Indonesia in the first group game marked the third time in successive tournaments that they have begun with a victory. 
 
The Lions of Mesopotamia sit second in Group D with three points to their name level on points with table-toppers Japan, which was inches away from being dealt a disappointing outcome against Vietnam, ranked 94th in the FIFA Rankings. However, their quality and level of experience prevailed at the end, as they came from a goal down to secure a narrow 4-2 victory at the Al-Thumama Stadium.
