President Rashid stresses the importance of resolving outstanding issues between The Federal Government and the Kurdistan region

President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, on Sunday, the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan region.

A statement from the Media Office of the President of the Republic stated, " President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today in Baghdad, The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani and his accompanying delegation.

"During the meeting, they discussed the general situation and the latest security and political developments in the country and stressed the importance of enhancing security and stability, cooperation, and coordination in order to meet the requirements and needs of citizens and raise the standard of living and services", the statement added.

Rashid stressed "The importance of resolving outstanding issues between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the Constitution and law, and the need to pay financial dues to the Kurdistan region accordance with the approved budget, and resolve salaries file of region’s employees ".

“They stressed the need to continue meetings and consultations between the two sides on issues of mutual interest, and to unite efforts between the political forces to support the government in achieving its program in a way that preserves the sovereignty of Iraq and its independent decision ”the statement added .

For his part, the President of the Region reviewed the results of his meetings with the leaders of political blocs during his current visit to the capital, Baghdad, praising" the role of the President of the Republic in bringing points of view closer between the political parties and his efforts to ensure the rights of all citizens, including the citizens of the Region.
