President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, on Thursday, the necessity to strengthen relations between Iraq and Denmark in areas of mutual interest.
A statement by Republic Presidency, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that " The Republic President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received the Danish ambassador to Iraq, Christian Thorning, at Baghdad Palace”.
During the meeting, the President stressed “The necessity of strengthening relations between Iraq and Denmark in areas of mutual interest and in order to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples ", the statement added.
Rashid pointed to" The importance of cooperation and coordination between the two countries to support international efforts in establishing regional and international security and stability".
For his part, the Ambassador of Denmark stressed "his country's support for Iraq's efforts to consolidate its security and stability, and keenness to consolidate friendly relations and cooperation in a way that serves the aspirations of Iraqi and Danish peoples".
The ambassador also made a presentation on the abdication of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II to Crown Prince Frederik Henrik and the upcoming coronation ceremony.
