PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani visited on Monday, Dhi Qar Governorate and received an update on the infrastructure and cultural center project in the ancient city of Ur, Dhi Qar.
He emphasized "the significance of rehabilitating this global tourist destination, aligning with the government's agenda to boost Iraq's tourism sector," according to a statement by the PM Media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included, "The infrastructure package is getting to 95% of completion, comprising two networks for rainwater and sewage treatment systems, along with a water system network. The projects also involved constructing a 700m main street, incorporating a sidewalk of natural granite and paving the street with stone."
The Cultural Center project "encompasses the construction of the Sumerian Theater and an indoor performance venue, completion of walkways for the amphitheater, establishment of the center's restaurant, corridors for the gardens, and other essential service facilities."
