The Anbar Criminal Court issued on Thursday, life imprisonment sentences against three convicts for the crime of drug trafficking.
The Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Anbar Criminal Court issued life imprisonment sentences against three convicts for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances,” indicating that “two million and seven hundred thousand pills of the narcotic amphetamine were seized in the possession of the convicts with the intention of trading in them.”
The statement added, "The rulings were issued based on the provisions of Article 28/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017 and in reference to Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code."
