The Security Media Cell SMC confirmed on Thursday that cooperation with neighboring countries led to the arrest and luring of terrorist networks from abroad last year.

"The main challenge for the security forces is not only border control, but also maintaining pressure on terrorist organizations and others," Maj. Gen.Tahsin al-Khafaji, head of the Security Media Cell, told the Iraqi News Agency INA.

"The security forces face challenges from crimes that impact community peace, including drug-related offenses and criminal offences," he continued.

Noting that "cooperation with neighboring countries in 2023 via the intelligence and security effort resulted in the arrest and lure of terrorist networks from overseas, "he expressed that "cooperation with neighboring countries continues to grow and expand this year."
