Integrity Commission and UNODC agree on the importance of supporting the E-governance project and the development process in Iraq

    The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, praised today, Sunday, the cooperation of international and regional organizations with Iraq in confronting the scourge of corruption, spreading the values of integrity and preserving public money, especially organizations affiliated with the United Nations, especially its office on drugs and crime in Baghdad.
     
     
     
    During his meeting with the head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Iraq, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Hanoun noted “the joint activities and programs held in cooperation between the Commission and the Office,” pointing out that “among the future projects between the two parties is the preparation and setting up for the next strategy for integrity and anti-corruption, which it is hoped will be developed and benefit from the previous one, and that roles will be placed in it for the private sector and other sectors.”
     
    For his part, the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Iraq, Ali Al-Burir, confirmed that “his office’s reports on Iraq are characterized by positivity and note the speed of achievement and implementation of decisions in an unprecedented manner,” pointing out that “(UNODC) will strengthen and intensify its support after witnessing a development in performance and implementation Programs.” Indicating that “the two most important projects that will be supported and worked to make it successful are supporting governance and the development process.”
     
    According to the statement, "The two sides agreed on the importance of supporting the private sector and civil society organizations, and holding courses and holding workshops, especially in the areas of inquiry and investigation into financial intelligence before corruption and money smuggling occur, and praising the workshops and programs implemented by the United Nations Office in Baghdad in the Commission, and the body’s new direction is to hold international conferences in Iraq.”
