Bayern Munich has been notified that they cannot sign Barcelona defender and captain Ronald Araujo during the winter but the Bundesliga champions still hold a glimmer of hope in acquiring the 24-year-old during the summer.
The Uruguayan international has emerged as the coveted target for Bayern Munich's manager, Thomas Tuchel, and sporting director, Christoph Freund. They are not prepared to concede defeat just yet and maintain optimism about securing Araujo's services in the summer.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich would be prepared to reach the €100 million mark in the summer to entice Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.
Considering Blaugrana’s financial situation, such a substantial offer could be too tempting to reject as it could provide a significant financial boost.
Moreover, the contract proposal that the Bavarian giants would put forward for the defender would also be beyond Barça's reach at a time when they are exploring all potential avenues to reduce expenses.
Araujo, on his side, holds no inclination to depart from Barcelona for Bayern Munich, whether it's in January or during the summer. His aspiration is to continue securing titles with the current La Liga champions.
Except for Bayern Munich, the stumbling giants of the Premier League, Manchester United, are also reportedly keen on Araujo.
The Red Devils previously attempted to lure the Uruguayan international in 2022, but he opted to extend his contract with Barcelona instead.
Now, with heightened interest from Bayern and Manchester United, Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, is already in the process of preparing a new contract for Araujo, despite his current deal lasting until 2026 and featuring an enormous €1 billion release clause.
Right now, Araujo has no intention of departing Barcelona, and the club has no plans to sell him. However, the situation might change if a financially enticing offer arises.
