Two earthquakes struck off the east coast of the island of Honshu in Japan and off the coast of Taiwan.
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences, "an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter Scale struck this morning off the east coast of Honshu, the main island in Japan, which includes the capital Tokyo.
German Research Center added that "The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers”, noting that "there were no reports of injuries or material damage".
The US Geological Survey said "an earthquake with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter Scale struck today, off the coast of the island of Taiwan, where the earthquake was recorded at 4:11 UTC, at a depth of 26.9 km.
"There were no reports of human casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake" it said.
