5 drug dealers held,10 kg of hashish seized in Basra

The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced on Thursday, arresting 5 drug dealers and seizing 10 kg of hashish in Basra.

INSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "in light of the efforts exerted by the Service to pursue drug dealers to reduce their criminal activities and bring them to justice, the detachments of the INSS in Basra province, after obtaining judicial approvals, were able to arrest one of the drug dealers carrying (10) kg of narcotic hashish.

The statement added that "the detachments of INSS managed, in the same province, to arrest (4) more dealer in narcotic substances with (6000) narcotic pills".

"The seized items were confiscated in coordination with the competent authorities and the accused were referred to the courts to receive their punishment in accordance with the law," it added.
