DGIS arrests fake Brigadier-General in Kirkuk

    Directorate General of Intelligence and Security DGIS, at the Ministry of Defense, announced on Sunday, arresting a fake Brigadier-General in Kirkuk, noting that the accused carried out many fraud and is wanted by the judiciary on various charges.


     

    A statement by DGIS, received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, said that "the detachments of the Kirkuk Intelligence and Security Directorate affiliated with DGIS were able to arrest a man impersonating a Brigadier-General and blackmailing citizens by managing a network that carries out fraud operations that affected citizens in Kirkuk province.”


    The statement added that “several arrest warrants were issued against the accused according to different cases."



    The arrest was carried out through a successful ambush in the city centre of Kirkuk, carried out by the directorate's detachments in co-ordination with the Kirkuk Operations Command Commando Regiment, the SWAT force, Kirkuk police commander and a detachment from the Asayish 

    General Operations Directorate," it said.


    The statement said that "the confessions of the accused were judicially recorded, as he confessed to carrying out criminal operations in several provinces," stressing “completing legal procedures against him to receive his just punishment.”
