The Civil Defense formatting committees to monitor damaged buildings that are about to collapse

    The Civil Defense Directorate clarified today, Friday, the mechanism for following up on the file of earthquakes and their consequences, while confirming the existence of joint coordination and committees with the relevant authorities to monitor damaged buildings or those that are about to collapse and determine ways to address the situation.

    Civil Defense Directorate media coordinator, Nawas Sabah, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Civil Defense Directorate has integrated plans in the event of any earthquake or dealing with building collapse incidents.”.

    He added, "There is joint coordination with the Municipality of Baghdad, the concerned authorities, and the municipalities of the governorate concerned with issuing building permits and following up on buildings that are at risk of collapsing," indicating, "The concerned departments in the institutions are tasked with installing fire sensors and the extinguishing system, and this does not fall on the responsibility of the Civil Defense Directorate.

    " Regarding the file of earthquakes and tremors, he explained, “There is joint coordination with the Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring Authority in reporting the presence of earthquakes or weather fluctuations.”.
