PM from Tehran: international community has failed to fulfill its duties towards the people of Gaza

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced on Monday, that the international community has failed to fulfill its duties towards the people of Gaza, stressing that Iraq is seeking a ceasefire, while referring to a bilateral agreement with Iran to complete joint projects.
     
    The Prime Minister said during a joint conference with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in Tehran, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We extend our sincere thanks to the Iranian President for the warm reception,” noting that “the visit to Tehran is an affirmation of the depth of the relationship between the two countries and the size of the contributions, and its importance is In this sensitive circumstance that the region is witnessing.”
     
    He added, "We held a meeting with the Iranian president, and the Palestinian issue was the most prominent," noting that "the Palestinian people are being subjected to genocide."
     
    He stated, "Our positions are shared on the Palestinian issue, and we seek to achieve the most important goal, which is to stop the fire in Gaza."
     
    The Prime Minister stressed "Iraq's firm position towards the Palestinian issue, expressed by the supreme authority and the political and national forces."
     
    He pointed out that "the international community has failed to fulfill its duties and obligations towards the people of Gaza," adding that "the people of Gaza have been living in a large prison for decades in front of the world."
     
    He stated, “Whoever wants to contain the conflict and prevent its spread in the region must stop the aggression of the Zionist entity,” pointing out that “the Palestinian crisis came as a result of the criminal policy of the Zionist occupation.”
     
    He went on to say: “The decision to drag the region into a comprehensive war is in the hands of the party carrying out the aggression against Gaza,” noting that “Iraq has presented a proposal to establish a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza, and we are ready to contribute to it.”
    He stated, "Iraq is playing a role and communicating with the countries of the region for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," stressing by saying: "We will continue to communicate in order to achieve the goal of a ceasefire in Gaza."
    The Prime Minister stressed, “We are working very hard to open humanitarian corridors, and “noting that“ Iraq sent convoys of aid to the people of Gaza.”
     
    He pointed out, "There are files that have witnessed practical steps with Iran, and we will complete joint projects after they were halted for years, in addition to the presence of great opportunities that establish a strategic partnership, foremost of which is the path of development."
     
    The Prime Minister explained, "The Joint Security Committee was able to remove all hotbeds of tension in the border areas."
