Iraq's interest and keeping it away from war are the government's top priority, says FM Hussein

    Foreign Minister, Foud Hussein, confirmed on Saturday, that the interest of Iraq and keeping the country away from war are among the priorities of the government’s work.
     
    Hussein said, in a speech during the activities of the Seventh Ambassadors’ Conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “There are dangers threatening the region with war,” stressing that “the interest of Iraq and keeping the country away from war are among the priorities of the government’s work.”
     
    “The Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are responsible for Iraq's foreign policy, as the Government has prioritized strengthening of relations with neighboring States, “he added.
     
    "Without openness to the Arab and regional surroundings, a sound democracy cannot be built," he said, "Our foreign policy takes into account the rapid development of India and China."
     
    "Many foreign consular offices have been opened in the governorates, and consular services have been expanded inside Iraq and abroad," he said.
     
    He stressed "the necessity of working with influential countries to stop the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip and the necessity of lifting the siege, emphasizing Iraq's firm position on the Palestinian cause and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people."
