INA discusses a number of files with Interior Ministry

    The ministry’s spokesman, Brigadier General Muqdad al-Musawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Interior has implemented 98% of the government program, and the most important activities are taking over the security file in five governorates, which are: (Najaf al-Ashraf, Muthanna, Babel, Wasit, and Diwaniyah ), and transferring responsibility from the units of the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Interior."

    He continued: “With regard to the transfer of the security file in the governorates of Salah al-Din and Dhi Qar, responsibility in Samarra will be transferred on 1/1/2024 to the interior departments, and in Dhi Qar as well As for the remaining governorates, the security file will be transferred successively."

    The ministry’s spokesman, pointed out, "A number of forced asylums have been opened, as the Ministry of the Interior has made great strides this year with regard to drug crime therefore, the Minister of the Interior expanded the work of the directorates and departments and linked the Narcotics Directorate directly to his office personally."

    He continued by saying: “The results were very large, as we have 16,914 detainees on drug charges, including 88 accused of international crimes under Articles 27, 28 and 32 of the Narcotics Law, in addition to 4 tons of drugs, 15 tons of Captagon in addition to murder13 drug dealers, 1,500 vehicles seized, and security operations led to the death of 3 and the wounding of 23 as part of operations this year."

    Securing the Iraqi borders

    He pointed out, “10 offices for the Ministry of Interior will be created outside Iraq,” adding, “The country’s borders have also become secure, as we have borders with 6 countries, and a border fence has been established with Iran, and the borders have been reinforced with thermal cameras, while the south has been cleared of war remnants."

    The Minister of Interior concluded security agreements with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Qatar.
