Iraq, Qatar sign a bilateral report on security cooperation

    The Ministry of Interior announced on Monday, the signing of a bilateral report on security cooperation with Qatar.

    A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “in response to the invitation submitted to the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, by the Qatari Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to visit the sisterly State of Qatar, al-Shammari met with his Qatari counterpart, and expressed Al-Shammari expressed his sincere thanks for the fraternal invitation presented.

    The statement added, "During the meeting, cooperation was discussed in security areas of common interest, which are in the common interest for the security of the two countries and the region," noting that "a bilateral report was signed between the two sides in which it was agreed to continue and expand the mechanisms of joint fraternal action, including an emphasis on the continuation of security cooperation and coordination between the two countries, based on the terms of the memorandum of understanding previously signed between the two countries.”

    It continued, "During the meeting, there was also cooperation in the field of training and all fields related to the work of the Ministry of Interior, support for the technical and technical competencies of the security agencies and units of both parties, academic cooperation between police colleges, and international cooperation to keep pace with all the new challenges of cross-border crime and any form of proposed work between the two parties, which is agreed upon through the international cooperation contact points in the two countries.”

    The statement pointed out that "on the sidelines of this visit, Al-Shammari visited the General Department of Narcotics Control in the Qatari Ministry of Interior, followed by a visit to the Joint Operations Center, to learn about the work mechanism, as well as the techniques used in the State of Qatar."
