Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani presided over a meeting focused on reviewing the progress of customs modernization, automation, and networking systems. The meeting included the participation of representatives from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
“Al-Sudani received a comprehensive report detailing the progress in the work to complete the first phase of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA). He also addressed the key issues and challenges, discussing strategies to overcome them, ultimately leading to the implementation of a single window for foreign trade through comprehensive information technology applications. This approach aims to streamline customs procedures and facilitate electronic declaration and data exchange,” stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
“The Prime Minister has issued directives for the prompt fulfillment of all financial commitments to ensure the successful completion of the first phase and the provision of essential infrastructure for the project. He has also instructed his team to organize informative technical workshops to introduce this significant initiative, which will bolster the government's endeavors to enhance economic structures in alignment with principles of integrity and transparency,” the statement added.
“Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized that the customs automation project stands as one of the key pillars of economic reform within the government's prioritized agenda. It serves as a critical foundation for implementing financial and banking reforms in alignment with the government's vision and strategy to promote legitimate trade and combat corruption,” the statement continued.
