Iraq and Serbia discuss the importance of strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation

    Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and his Serbian counterpart, Vladimir Orlic, discussed today, Monday, the importance of strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
     
    The media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the accompanying parliamentary delegation met his Serbian counterpart, Vladimir Orlic, at the headquarters of the Serbian National Assembly, where an official reception of Al-Halbousi took place, followed by a discussion session and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Serbian National Assembly.”
    The statement added, "The two sides stressed, during the discussions that came on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries, the importance of strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation, including activating friendship committees, exchanging information, and consultations on topics of common interest at the bilateral level and in international parliamentary organizations." .
    The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed, according to the statement, “Iraq’s openness in its relations with its friends in the world, including Serbia, and cooperation in various fields, including education, health, and agriculture,” noting, “The federal budget in Iraq was approved for three years with a strategic vision, calling on reputable international companies to contributing and participating in the implementation of plans and projects prepared by the Iraqi government in many sectors, extending an invitation to his Serbian counterpart to visit Iraq.
    For his part, Orlic affirmed his country's support for Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing his thanks for Iraq's position in supporting Serbia and its sovereignty over its entire territory, noting "the depth of friendly relations between the two countries and the readiness for cooperation in all fields."
