8 wanted on charges of human trafficking, foreign currency and drugs smuggling arrested in two provinces: DGIS

    The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security DGIS of the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday arresting 8 wanted men on charges of human trafficking, foreign currency and narcotics smuggling in two provinces.

    A statement by DGIS received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "detachments of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security in Diwaniyah of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security of the Ministry of Defense, was able to arrest two dealers of narcotic substances in possession of various narcotic substances in Diwaniyah," noting that "the detachments were also able to arrest two traders in foreign currency contrary to the instructions of the Central Bank, through their presence in the province."

    "The necessary legal measures have been taken against them," it said.

    The statement added that "the detachments of Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate, affiliated to the same directorate, were also able to arrest two foreign defendants in Baghdad who are illegally bringing foreigners into the country against whom arrest warrants were issued in accordance with Article (6) of the Human Trafficking Law, while the directorate's detachments arrested two wanted persons on charges of trading and promoting narcotics in Mansour area in Baghdad, according to two arrest warrants issued against them in accordance with Article (28) of one of the competent courts, where they were handed over to the competent authorities."
