The Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi called on the Arab League to convene urgently to discuss developments in the situation in Palestine.

Al-Awadi said in a statement, according to the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Iraq reiterates its steadfast stance, in support of the Palestinian cause. We stand with the Palestinian people in their efforts to realize their aspirations and attain their full legitimate rights. Sustainable peace cannot be achieved in the presence of injustice and the denial of these rights.

The actions undertaken by the Palestinian people today are a predictable outcome of the decades-long systematic oppression they have endured at the hands of the Zionist occupation authority, which has consistently disregarded international and UN resolutions. We urge the international community to take firm measures to halt these serious violations and restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, who continue to endure occupation, policies of racial discrimination, blockades, desecration of holy sites, and violations of humanitarian values and principles.

We caution against the ongoing escalation within Palestinian territories, as it has the potential to destabilize the entire region. Furthermore, we call upon the League of Arab States to promptly convene and address the alarming developments in the Palestinian territories.
