4 arrested on charges of terrorism, drug trafficking, and manipulation of the exchange rates: SMC

     Security Media Cell SMC announced Thursday, arresting 4 wanted on charges of terrorism, drug and antiquities trade, and manipulation of the exchange rate in the provinces of Baghdad and Dhi Qar.
     
    A statement by SMC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “with two separate duties and an intelligence effort distinguished by speed and accuracy, through which the detachments of the Dhi Qar Intelligence and Security Directorate were able to arrest two persons wanted by the judiciary on charges of terrorism and drug trafficking.”
     
    It continued, "The security operation was carried out in accordance with two arrest warrants issued against them (4/1 terrorism, 28 drugs) through their presence in the Souq Al-Shuyoukh and Al-Dawaiya districts in Dhi Qar Governorate."
     
    The statement added, “Detachments of the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate affiliated with the same directorate, were able to arrest an accused who was trafficking in antiquities, using many fictitious names to mislead the security forces.”
     
    It pointed out that "he was arrested through an tight ambush in Al-Jadriya area in Baghdad. An arrest warrant was issued against him in accordance with the provisions of Article (44) and he was handed over to the Fundamentally Organized Crime Directorate."
     
    It also explained, "The directorate's detachments were able to seize one of the outlets in Shorja area in Baghdad, which was selling foreign currency (the dollar), contrary to the instructions of the Central Bank of Iraq and without fundamental approvals. The detachments were able to arrest the owner of the outlet and take legal measures against him."
