The Security Media Cell (SMC) announced on Monday, the arrest of the so-called commander of the foreign terrorist battalion of ISIS in Kirkuk.
The cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “With a precise intelligence operation and continuous follow-up carried out by the detachments of the Counter-Terrorism Service and in coordination with the Asayish Operations Department in the Kurdistan Region, it was able to arrest the leading terrorist called (Abu Bukhari) in Kirkuk Governorate.”
The statement added, "The operation came based on the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, and the supervision of the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abdel-Wahab Al-Saadi," noting that "the terrorist was holding the position of the so-called commander of the foreign battalion in the ISIS terrorist gangs."
