Hussein proposes signing MOU with Mali in several fields

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein submitted a proposal on the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Mali in several fields.
     
    A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mali, Abdoulaye Diop, on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level week of the meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where they discussed bilateral relations and prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries."
     
    The foreign minister stressed "Iraq's keenness to develop its relations with the countries of the African continent in the next stage, believing in the rising role of the countries of this continent on the international arena."
     
    The statement continued, "During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current situation in the Republic of Mali, as Diop stressed his country's endeavor to benefit from the expertise possessed by Iraq in the field of combating terrorism, protecting borders and neutralizing terrorist groups."
     
    For his part, Foreign Minister Hussein pointed to "the possibility of cooperation in this regard," suggesting "the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in several fields."
     
    He stressed "the importance of establishing a joint committee for the purpose of setting priorities and discussing ways of joint cooperation in several fields in a way that serves the interests of the two countries."
