Al-Maliki and Talabani discuss political and security developments

    The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, discussed today, Wednesday, with the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, the political and security developments and the repercussions of targeting Arbid Airport in Sulaymaniyah.
     
     
    The media office of the head of the State of Law coalition said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office today the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pafel Talabani, and his accompanying delegation.”
    The statement added, "During the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security developments, and the repercussions of targeting Arbid Airport in Sulaymaniyah Governorate."
    According to the statement, Al-Maliki expressed his "strong condemnation of the incident that occurred yesterday, considering this attack a blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty."
    He called on neighboring countries to "respect Iraq's sovereignty and refrain from using force in resolving outstanding problems," noting "the importance of continuing national efforts and endeavors to restore stability and provide more services to citizens in various fields."
    For his part, Talabani appreciated Al-Maliki’s positions in support of resolving the existing problems between the federal government and the Kurdistan region through dialogue, and the recent agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan region regarding the salaries of employees in the region, saying: Our policy is clear and our goal is to provide services, and to this end we have worked since the beginning for solving problems, and our goal was for the constitution to be a basis for solving problems,” adding, “Coordination and joint work are a factor of stability and building a worthy future for our Iraqi people.”
