PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani met on Tuesday, with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Achim Steiner, in New York during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
Al-Sudani expressed "Iraq's commitment to enhancing cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in three key areas: addressing climate change, advancing legislation related to electronic payment, and pursuing economic reform, anti-corruption efforts, and improved transparency in government institutions," according to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He also highlighted "plans for collaboration with the UNDP in the domains of e-governance and the digital economy," emphasizing that "these initiatives would represent a significant advancement, addressing various challenges currently faced by Iraq."
In turn, Steiner expressed the UNDP's readiness to assist Iraq and provide technical cooperation in the three mentioned priorities, noting upon organizing a workshop on the electronic payment project in Baghdad later this month.
He also highlighted supporting Iraq in its plans to "address climate change, mitigate the effects of drought, and implement reform projects and training programs to enhance the capabilities of government institutions and restore stability to the liberated areas."
