INA British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed today, Friday, that the G20 countries are currently unable to reach an agreement on the climate issue and the Ukrainian crisis due to China’s position.
Sunak said in a press statement: “We have not yet reached the goal,” noting that “negotiations at the summit are taking place with difficulty.”.
The Financial Times reported, “On the sidelines of the G20 summit in New Delhi, Sunak will call on his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, to use his influence to end the conflict in Ukraine.”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously stated that the G7 countries were exerting pressure on India to include in the final documents of the G20 its unilateral positions towards the conflict in Ukraine.
For his part, US President Joe Biden expressed his "disappointment regarding the decision of Chinese President Xi Jinping not to participate in the G20 summit, which will be held in India on the 9th and 10th of this month."
