Our national team coach, Jesus Casas, confirmed today, Thursday, that the confrontation with India was difficult, which was decided on penalties (5-4) in favor of Iraq after the original time ended in a draw with two goals for each, while he expressed his happiness with the victory.
During the press conference attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Casas expressed his happiness at achieving victory in today’s match, which he considered difficult compared to facing a developed team that has a coach who developed his training idea and succeeded in his work over the past few years to develop the performance of the Indian team. In addition to the high humidity, which made the match difficult for our players.”.
Casas added, "We were the team with the most possession of the ball and the most dangerous to the opponent's goal throughout the 90 minutes of the match, but from a chance and a half, the Indian team was able to score two goals that made the match difficult for us.".
Casas explained, “With regard to the two penalty kicks received by the national team during the match, with the opponent’s objections to the referee’s decision in the second case, they came from two cases: the first was a handball and the second was a clear obstruction, and was preceded by two clear obstructions, as a result of which the referee did not count anything.”.
Regarding the referee’s decision to show the red card to the player Zidane Iqbal, which will prevent him from participating in the next match (the winner of the matches against Thailand and Lebanon), Casas replied, “It was a correct decision because the situation was clear, and these are things that happen in football.”
