Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday, the implementation of proactive security measures before the launch of the plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, revealing the details of those procedures, while promising citizens to facilitate the process of convoying towards the holy Karbala.
The ministry’s spokesman, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Supreme Committee, headed by the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, is conducting extensive preparation operations that precede the Arbaeen pilgrimage, whether by holding meetings and assigning directorates and formations to prepare plans according to each formation, as there is a special plan traffic, Civil Defense, Intelligence and other formations.”
He pointed out, “There were preparations, proactive operations and extensive inspection campaigns, as well as the implementation of arrest warrants, and continuous field visits to the operational sectors and to the border crossings and the routes taken by foreign and Iraqi visitors."
Ministry’s spokesman, continued, "Coordination was also made with service institutions, and many meetings were held, which are still ongoing," stressing that "the plan will enter into force with the approaching date of Arbaeen pilgrimage."
He pointed out, "There are many facilities that will be provided to citizens in the promotion process, and easy access to areas near the city center."
