The Ministry of Environment confirmed on Friday, that government projects to address environmental issues will receive international support, while noting that this year witnessed the actual launch of projects and programs for environmental program management.
“The government seeks to overcome the negative effects of climate change in Iraq like the scarcity of water and dust storms,” The Director General of the Awareness and Information Department in the Ministry, Amir Ali Al-Hassoun, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He affirmed that "Projects prepared by the Government to overcome environmental problems will receive international support", noting that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shiya al-Sudani recommended ,during the climate conference held in Basra, to organize a campaign led by the Ministry of Environment with the participation of all ministries and governorates and many workshops in this regard".
“2023 is the year for the actual launch of projects and programs and a change in the ways of environmental programs management," Al-Hassoun added.
