Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and his Iranian counterpart, Ahmad Vahidi ,held on Monday, a meeting to discuss preparations for opening the Al-Mundhariya crossing to Arbaeen pilgrims.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir al-Shammari and his Iranian counterpart, Ahmad Vahidi , held a meeting at the Munthiriya border crossing in Khanaqin in Diyala province, in the presence of the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, the governor of Kermanshah, the commander of the border forces and a number of security leaders."
The statment added, "The two sides discussed securing the Iraqi-Iranian borders and the ongoing preparations to open the crossing to Iranian pilgrims during the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
