The Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee identified on Monday,  the most prominent points of disagreement over the oil and gas law, while confirming that the President of the Republic, Abdullatif Rashid, the Cabinet, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the leaders of the political blocs, expressed their support for the approval of the law.

A member of the committee, Ali Saadoun al-Lami, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there is no progress regarding the oil and gas law, as the dispute between the region and the center regarding the law continues," noting that "the most prominent points of contention are how to manage the oil fields, as the law stipulates that they be managed by the central government, but the Kurds demand that the management of these fields be by the region, in addition to the marketing mechanism: Is it through SOMO or through the region? In addition to the revenues."

He added, "Discussion is the best solution to bring points of view closer," explaining that "members of the Parliamentary Oil Committee met with President Abdullatif Rashid, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, and leaders of political blocs, who all expressed their support for passing the law to avoid important problems."

He stated, "The committee demanded a meeting with the region's president, Nechirvan Barzani, listen to, discuss and bring together points of view, but this meeting has not yet taken place."
