Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi affirmed on Thursday, his support for the Iraqi government's decision to sever diplomatic relations with Sweden.
Al-Halbousi said in a speech during the parliament session, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We express our anger of what happened today in terms of protection and authorization by the Swedish authorities for the process of public insult to the sanctities of Muslims and transgression of the sanctity of the Holy Quran."
He added, "We support the Iraqi government's decision to sever diplomatic relations with Sweden, and we also support this measure with any country that does not respect the sanctities of Muslims or supports any measure that insults the sanctities of religions."
