A spokesman for the Iraqi government, Basim Al-Awadi, confirmed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is enthusiastic about the development road project, and neither Ankara nor any country imposed any conditions for entering it, pointing to the completion of the design of the first section of the land road.

Al-Awadi told Al-Iraqiya News, and was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is a group of important files between the Iraqi and Turkish governments, foremost of which are border issues, water scarcity, water agreements, and joint technical committees working on this issue since Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani's visit to Turkey last March." .

He added, "The development path project as well, and the Turkish investments in Iraq, are among the important files between the two countries. The Turkish President's contact with the Prime Minister came to discuss all of these files and dealt with the water scarcity file, which also took a large part of the meeting of the Supreme Coordinating Committee for the Iraqi Provinces, in which the Prime Minister and Minister spoke. The resources were discussed at length on the subject, as well as the observations of the observers on the subject were listened to.

He continued, "The contact touched on the issue of the development path, and the Turkish president was very enthusiastic about this project, and he believes that this path has great interest for Iraq, Turkey and the region, and he continues to advance this trend.".

He pointed out, "There are no Turkish conditions or any country to enter this project, which is an urgent Iraqi need, because it will advance the country's economy and its infrastructure, as Iraq needs a network of roads and railways.".

Al-Awadi revealed, "The signing of the contract for the design of land roads and railways between the Ministry of Transport and the Italian consulting company has reached its final stages, and the company has completed the design of the first section of the land road that extends from the city of Al-Faw in Basra to the city of Nasiriyah, and work is in progress to sign the final contract with the company."
