Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf announced on Monday, the holding of an intergovernmental meeting regarding Al-Hol camp in Syria, while he indicated that the government had transported 10 meals for Iraqi families coming from Al-Hol camp to the country.
Al-Sahhaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a meeting that includes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Security Adviser, missions and organizations residing in Iraq will be held today, to discuss the vision of the Iraqi government regarding Al-Hol camp in Syria," noting that "ending the issue of Al-Hol camp has become a supreme security interest for Iraq because of its societal repercussions.”
He added, "The government calls on the international community to urge all countries that have nationals in al-Hol camp in Syria to withdraw their nationals as quickly as possible and close this camp, which has turned into a dangerous social hotspot," noting that "the government took the initiative to distribute tasks and define responsibilities for a group of Iraqi government institutions to continue in Transfer, rehabilitation and integration of all Iraqi families coming from the Syrian Al-Hol camp, in a clear methodology and direct government responsibility.
He stated that "the government was able to transport 10 meals to Iraqi families coming from the Syrian al-Hol camp to the country, at a rate of 1,393 families, or an average of 5,569 individuals," stressing "the importance of the international community's support for government agencies, including the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, in rehabilitation, mental health and vocational training programs within the Psychological Rehabilitation Center and the community in Jada 1, which is managed and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Immigration.”
Al-Sahhaf pointed to "the importance of the international community's response, in coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to hold a conference at the level of foreign ministers to discuss the great importance of ending the file of the Syrian al-Hol camp and closing it once and for all," noting that "the government was able, through the methodology of work that is taking place under the supervision of the Prime Minister, to find a ground Strong and positive social acceptance of all families that were integrated in their areas of origin and presented a success story of the quality of the international community added to the Iraqi success stories in combating terrorism and building peace.”
