The Ministry of Finance discussed the procedures for approving electronic point-of-sale (POS) systems in various economic sectors.
A statement of the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Masoud Haider, chaired today, Tuesday, an expanded meeting that included the general managers of the ministry's banks and departments concerned with the project to generalize POS devices. The meeting discussed procedures for approving electronic POS systems in various economic sectors, by defining a package of supportive facilities to expand the coverage of the use of these devices, which in turn will reduce cash circulation and save money.
Haider said, according to the statement, that "the ministry is seriously supportive of the government's efforts to implement the decision issued by the Council of Ministers, No. (23044) for the year 2023, which provides for the deployment of (POS) devices," noting that "the approval of points of sale works to facilitate the government's control over the management of Its funds by collecting its revenues on the one hand, and on the other hand, working on the development of the banking sector and electronic payment companies.
