Rafale appears in the lead as Iraq seeks new fighter jets for its fleet: Maj. Gen. Yehia Rasool

    The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yehia Rasool, confirmed on Tuesday, the seeking to include the French Rafale planes in the Iraqi air fleet, while explaining the importance of the (Ababil - 1) exercise for the Iraqi Air Force.
     
    Rasool told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Commander-in-Chief Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered complete the capacity-building of the Iraqi Armed Forces, including the Air Force Command, so Iraq will purchase modern military equipment from many countries, including the Republic of France."
     
     
    He explained, "France is considered one of the developed countries in the field of military industries, including the air force," noting that: "Iraq is cooperating with France in many fields, including air defense."

    He stressed "The importance of conducting training courses for the Iraqi Air Force with many countries, including NATO countries, including France, in order to enhance the expertise."
