PM AI-Sudani Receives the Emir of the Yazidis and Sheikh of the Yazidi Community in Mosul

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. AI-Sudani received on Saturday, a delegation of esteemed guests to his residence in the city of Mosul. The delegation included the Emir of the Yazidis in Iraq and the world, Mr. Hazim Tahsin Beg, and His Eminence Chief of the Yazidi community, Sheikh Ali Ilyas, and their accompanying members of the Yazidi Supreme Spiritual Council.
     
    The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency (INA) that “The prime minister expressed deep admiration for the Yazidi people, who are an integral part of the diverse spectrum of Iraqi society. He commended their unwavering commitment to their country, Iraq, and their resilience in the face of terrorism and attempts to uproot their ancient Mesopotamian heritage. The Prime Minister acknowledged the united national positions taken by the Iraqi Yazidis and their continued determination to confront any schemes that threaten their culture and identity.”

    The statement added", The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to supporting all components of Iraqi society, including the Yazidi community. He pledged to prioritize rehabilitating Yazidi areas and providing necessary services and economic opportunities as part of the government's program. The Prime Minister emphasized that these efforts would facilitate the safe and voluntary return of displaced Yazidi families to their homes and restore stability and prosperity to their communities”.

    AI-Sudani highlighted the government's commitment to rectifying the injustices suffered by the Yazidi community under the dictatorial regime. He emphasized the Council of Ministers' decision to restore ownership of residential lands to Yazidi citizens who were deprived due to discriminatory policies.
     
     The statement continued, "The Prime Minister also stressed the government's determination to continue implementing the Yazidi Survivors Law and compensating victims of ISIS terror attacks. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to upholding the rights of Yazidi martyrs and victims, as enshrined in relevant laws”.

    For their part, Mr. Hazim Tahsin Beg and the accompanying delegation expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for his commitment to supporting the Yazidi community. They commended the government's support for the Yazidi people. The delegation emphasized the importance of the government’s steps in promoting a sense of belonging and inclusivity among the Yazidi community and thanked the government for its continued support.

    The delegation also expressed appreciation for the government's recent decisions, including activating the Special Committee for Sinjar Compensation and the rights of Yazidi martyrs and survivors. They commended the government's efforts to promote reconstruction and provide social protection benefits and its commitment to upholding the cultural rights of the Yazidi community. The delegation also expressed gratitude for the government's efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and combat hate speech, which are crucial steps toward building a more inclusive and harmonious society.
