Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari stressed on Sunday the intensification of security measures in Dhi Qar province, while stressing the immediate implementation of arrest warrants and the application of the law against those wanted by the judiciary.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Al-Shammari held an expanded security meeting at the headquarters of the Sumer Operations Command in Dhi Qar province, in the presence of the deputy commander of joint operations, the governor of Dhi Qar, undersecretaries of the ministry, security leaders and intelligence departments to discuss the overall security situation in the province."
The minister stressed the "intensification of security measures, which he described as insufficient," noting that "the security forces must firmly apply the law against anyone who tries to tamper with the security of the province or raise weapons outside the authority of the law."
He directed "to immediately reconsider the security of the province and support the judicial effort, which he described as strong and decisive," stressing "the immediate implementation of arrest warrants and the application of the law against those wanted by the judiciary and zero tolerance for this matter."
