Iraq Ministry of Electricity clarified the developments in the connection with the Gulf and the start date of the first phase with Jordan, while explaining the reasons for not starting the connection with Turkey, despite its completion at the end of last year.

"Energy supply for all the governorates is integrated, after the Ministry of Electricity carried out large works, taking advantage of the moderate temperature in the last period. Some areas are experiencing technical symptoms, but they are soon dealt by our staff," said the ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He added, "The link with Turkey is 100 percent complete, and we are awaiting the preparation of an appropriate pricing list for Iraq to enter into force and implement the final operating agreement. Work is also underway regarding the connection with Jordan, and it is assumed that it will be completed to enter the first phase in early June, with a capacity of 150 megawatts."

Musa highlighted, "The works are underway, including the construction of a line linking the Iraqi Faw station with the Al-Wafra station in Kuwait. The Minister of Electricity's recent visit to Riyadh on April, 11th discussed the technical connection with Saudi Arabia, and set a starting point for starting this project."
