The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, announced on Sunday, that the releases of the Tigris River will improve in the coming days, while indicating that an invitation was extended to the Iranian Minister of Energy to attend the third Baghdad Water Conference.
The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "meetings and work are continuing with the Iranian and Turkish sides regarding Iraq's water share," noting that "an invitation was extended to the Iranian Minister of Energy to attend and participate in the third Baghdad Water Conference, which will be held next month."
He added, "Discussions and understandings with the Turkish side during prime minister's recent visit included an agreement to send a technical delegation to Turkey soon."
Iraq invited the Turkish delegation to visit it for the purpose of continuing discussions on activating the memorandum of understanding that was previously signed between the two countries in this field, which entered into force and was ratified by the Turkish and Iraqi parliamentarians.
He pointed out, "There are practical steps to implement what was stated in the terms of the memorandum," noting that "the launches of the Tigris River will improve, especially with the commitment of the Turkish side to the agreed launches."
