Sadiqoun Bloc confirmed on Sunday that Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani's directives on the new Sadr City are a step in the right direction, while pointing to the recommendation to complete the government's vision to prepare designs for the new Sadr City.

Zainab Juma al-Musawi, a member of parliament for the Sadiqoun Bloc, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, during an air tour he conducted to see the city's borders and details of its location on the ground, is a step in the right direction for the reconstruction of this city, which has suffered a lot from the weakness of services and infrastructure provided to it."

She added, "Al-Sudani's directives during the special meeting towards Sadr City to adopt a project based on the construction of new housing units equipped with all service requirements, a modern road network and modern infrastructure such as sewers, potable water networks, parks and schools with all services."

She stressed, "The need for everyone to join hands in order to complete the vision of the Iraqi government to prepare the designs for the new Sadr City and implement them on the ground."

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired an important meeting devoted to discussing the new Sadr City project, the meeting reviewed the executive aspects of the new Sadr City project, which will be implemented on a total area of 4 thousand dunums, extending between the factories area and the outskirts of Sadr City.

It pointed out that "the new Sadr City is an important housing project that will alleviate the housing crisis of the current city, as it will be built outside the area of its neighborhoods that suffer from the pressure of population density and service requirements, and it is a fair measure for this sacrificial city that has suffered from neglect for many decades."
