Transport Minister: The development project is one of the most prominent projects of the ministry for the current year

    The Minister of Transport, Razak Muhibis Al-Saadawi, confirmed that the development project is one of the most prominent projects of the ministry for the current year.
     
     
    A statement of the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The Minister of Transport, Razak Muhibis Al-Saadawi, held an extensive meeting at the ministry's headquarters, with the Italian consulting company, PEG, in charge of preparing project designs, in the presence of the Prime Minister's advisor for transport affairs and the head of the advisory board, also attended the meeting on the Turkish side the representative of the Turkish Minister of Transport and the Ambassador of Ankara to Baghdad, to follow up on the technical aspects and consistency of designs in the implementation of the Development Road Project.
    According to the statement "The meeting witnessed a comprehensive presentation and a detailed explanation of the latest developments in the work of the Italian consulting company in the development path project," pointing out that "the Minister of Transport stressed during the meeting the importance of proceeding with this vital project, and the promising opportunity it represents for Iraq's economic and development future."
    The minister explained, according to the statement, that "the development project constitutes one of the most prominent projects of the ministry in the year 2023," stressing the ministry's endeavor to secure sufficient financial allocations for the project in the general budget.
    He pointed out that "the development road project will achieve an economic renaissance in our new Iraq, and it will also work to link the east with the west and maximize the revenues of the state treasury," noting that "this comes in line with the Iraqi-Turkish discussions and talks that were conducted by the Iraqi delegation headed by the Prime Minister, Eng. Muhammad Shia’ Al- Sudani, with the Turkish side in Ankara, last month.
    Al-Saadawi pointed out during the meeting that "the government's vision aspires to transform Iraq into an international trade center between Asia and Europe, and therefore the path of development is of great importance in this context."
     
    For its part, the Italian company presented an explanation of its findings regarding the economic feasibility study for the development road and the great port of Faw, as it presented a comprehensive study on the land and railway transport lines that will be linked to the great port of Faw to the European countries.
